Optimising Facebook Fanpages for Search #2

As part of our on-going Optimisation Project twice per week I will be bringing you one actionable thing you can do to begin optimising facebook fanpages, your website, your blog, your Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube profiles and pages.

Each task will be as short as I can make them because I know you are busy, but if you follow along all tasks you will see a huge improvement in your visibility on line and also the level of engagement you have with your customers and prospects.

If you would like to receive these updates into your inbox to be sure you don’t miss any, then please subscribe over to the right of this post.

Today and in the next few Optimisation Project posts, we are going to be: Optimising Facebook Pages for Search. If you’ve missed Step 1 you can find it here

Step 2: Optimising Facebook Fanpages for Search

Today’s Task:

  • Link your Facebook Fanpage from the Homepage of your website.

It’s also very important that you use your Brand Name in the anchor text of the link.  In step 1 you will have claimed your Facebook username which means your Fanpage URL should be: http://facebook.com/XXX, where XXX is your brand name. This is the URL that should be used when linking to your Fanpage.

Most likely you will want to use a Social Media icon as the link, in which case it’s very important that you make the alt/hover text: YourBrandName Facebook (where YourBrandName is substituted with the name of your brand!)

There are a whole bunch of cool Social Media icons for free on this blog

There are a lot of different CMS (Content Management Systems) in the market today and each one has a different control interface for managing where content is displayed. If I tried to tackle how to add social media icons and links to every one this post would become encyclopaedic in length.

If you don’t know where to start with adding these icons or you are not comfortable adding them to your site yourself, then I would be delighted to help you either here in the comments, or if you would like for someone from WSM to do it for you, please contact us here
